Katie Hoffman

Impact Investor

Katie Hoffman is a financial innovator and environmental entrepreneur. She is a founding partner of early stage venture capital firm, Regeneration.VC and a senior fellow at DC think tank The Future US. A leader in climate-smart investing and shaping ESG standards, she's influenced policy through major climate investments, including the $40.4T+ AUM Divest–Invest initiative. As Managing Director at Etho Capital, she helped spearhead the Climate Leadership Index and ETF, Katie has built green programs with the University of California, New Energy Nexus, and NEXUS global impacting over 100 green projects.

G.K. Butterfield

Former Congressman

Congressman G.K. Butterfield served the people of North Carolina's first congressional district for 18 years, retiring in 2022. He was a senior member of the powerful Committee on Energy & Commerce and served as Chief Deputy Whip to Congressman Jim Clyburn of South Carolina. In 2014, Congressman Butterfield was unanimously elected Chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus. One of his achievements was the creation of “CBC Tech 2020” that resulted in many Fortune 500 companies becoming more diverse in their board and C-Suite appointments.

Ivan Urlaub

Ivan Urlaub served 14 years as Executive Director of the NC Sustainable Energy Association, is a recent SAFE Energy Security Fellow, past RMI eLab Accelerator participant and coach, and recipient of several energy business and leadership awards. Early in his career, Ivan was a US EPA NNEMS Fellow, worked five years on conflict resolution over water resources in the Middle East and North Africa, and reviewed worst case scenario emergency response plans for domestic and military oil pipelines. He is an alum of Leadership NC and an Eagle Scout.

Sage Lenier

Sage Lenier is an activist working to build an education system that enables the next gen to become climate solutionists. She got her start teaching her own program at UC Berkeley, which broke records for largest-ever student-led class. Her work has been featured in The New York Times, The World Economic Forum, Forbes, and Teen Vogue, and has brought her to speak at public forums around the world. TIME Magazine named her a 2023 Next Generation Leader for her work with Sustainable & Just Future.

Miles Taylor

Technology Leader

Miles Taylor served as chief of staff at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and later as the Head of Advanced Technology & Security Strategy at Google, where he helped promote clean energy solutions. He worked previously in the White House, on Capitol Hill, as a CNN contributor, and as the cofounder of a DC-based charter school and multiple democracy-reform groups. Taylor is the author of two New York Times bestsellers — A Warning (2019) and Blowback (2023) — and received his MPhil from Oxford University as a Marshall Scholar and BA from Indiana University as aTruman Scholar.


Drew McDowell Change Maker

Drew McDowell is a seasoned political operative with over a decade of experience at the Federal level. He began his career on Capitol Hill working for his home state Representative, Rep. Renee Ellmers, later moving to the powerful House Committee on Energy & Commerce. In 2018, McDowell left the Republican party to become an Independent, later serving as Chief of Staff for Renew America Movement and the Forward Party. McDowell resides in Raleigh, NC.
